OMRON
BOBY FAT ANALYZER
Body fat
percentage refers to the percentage of body fat mass (the weight of fat) in
regards to body weight. The weight that is not fat is referred as the fat free
body mass.
The human
body is made up mainly of water with fat being in the next largest percentage.
The remainder of the body consists of proteins and carbohydrates in the form of
muscles and minerals stored in your bones.
The term
"obese" refers to a person whose body fat mass is in too high of a
proportion to their body weight. Your body fat percentage and body fat mass are
determined by the following calculations:
Body fat
percentage (%) = Body fat mass (lb.)/Body weight (lb.) x100
Body fat
mass (lb.)=Body weight (lb.)-fat free mass lb.)
TARGET
BODY FAT RANGE
MEN 12 to 20%
WOMEN 18 to 25%
The Omron
Body Fat analyzer sends an extremely weak electric current through the body. It
is so weak that you do not even feel it. The analyzer measures the resistance
the body gives off as this current flows through it. Since fat tissues have
little to no electric conductivity, it can detect the ration of fat tissue to
other tissues.
This
method, of measuring the electric resistance of the body, is called
Bioelectrical Impedance (BI) method and is one of the most accurate means of
body fat analysis.
