METABOLIC FINGERPRINTING

You hear it all the time: metabolism.

Most people understand metabolism as how slowly or quickly their bodies burn calories. Unfortunately, they don't understand how important knowledge of metabolism is for successful weight management. Being overweight contributes to increased risk of heart disease, diabetes, hypertension and other preventable diseases. Losing weight isn't just about looking better - it's a health issue.

Metabolism is the body's process of converting food into energy to keep the body running and fuel daily activities. Your resting metabolic rate (RMR) or Metabolic Fingerprint™ is the number of calories your body burns to maintain vital body functions such as heart rate, brain function and breathing. RMR accounts for a majority of the calories you burn each day. Knowledge of your unique Metabolic Fingerprint is the missing link to personalizing your weight management plan, and is critical to success.

RMR may vary dramatically from person to person depending on genetic factors. If you know someone who claims they can eat anything they want and never gain an ounce of fat, they have inherited a naturally high RMR. It is very important to note that the higher your lean body mass is, the higher your BMR will be. This is very significant if you want to lose body fat because it means that the more muscle you have, the more calories you will burn. Muscle is metabolically active tissue, and it requires a great deal of energy just to sustain it. It is obvious then that one way to increase your RMR is to engage in weight training in order to increase and/or maintain lean body mass. In this manner it could be said that weight training helps you lose body fat, and increase lean mass. Weight management is really a matter of arithmetic - balancing the number of calories taken in against the number of calories out. If you know how many calories you're burning, you'll know how many calories you must eat to meet your goals.

In order to gage your resting metabolic rate, a metabolic fingerprint is needed.

What is a metabolic fingerprint? It's the result of a simple 10-minute breath test using a handheld device, to measure oxygen consumption which provides a precise number reflecting an individual's metabolic rate. Metabolism plays such a significant role in overall health, fitness and wellness that it accounts for up to 75% of the total energy our bodies use each day.

In fact, metabolism is such a critical factor in achieving and maintaining a successful weight management program and healthy lifestyle, that two people with the same eating and exercise habits, can experience very different results -- solely because their metabolic fingerprints are different.

An accurate measurement of a person's metabolic fingerprint has become the missing piece of information helping scores of individuals finally achieve their healthy lifestyle goals -- whatever they might be. Instead of a one-size-fits-all program, knowing one's unique metabolic fingerprint allows people to create a tailored customized plan -- regardless of which diet or exercise regimen they choose. Instead of a one-size-fits-all program, you will know YOUR unique metabolic fingerprint. From there, we create a tailored, customized plan -- specific for you. This test requires a 4-hour fast period before administering. (An 8-12 hour fast is the most accurate).
